    It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved former principal, Reverend Brother Ignatius Warnakula. He played a pivotal role in shaping our College and will always be remembered for his dedication and contributions.

    Viewing:
    His remains will be available for viewing at:
    No. 130, De La Salle Provincialate Chapel, Mutwal, Colombo 15 from 9:00 AM on Sunday, June 25th.

    Funeral Service:
    The Funeral Service will commence on June 26, 2023, followed by Holy Mass at 3:00 PM.

    Final Resting Place:
    Madampitiya Cemetery.

    Reverend Brother Ignatius Warnakula will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We encourage you to join us in honoring his memory and paying your respects during the viewing and funeral service period.

    We all have extraordinary people who shape our lives. 1st was my beloved father; I could write a book about him instead of a few short stories. Everything I do in life; I attribute to him. This is not to downplay the role my mother played in my character building.
    2nd was a Christian Brother, beloved Bro. Ignatius, who was my carer when I was twelve years old, in the Christian brothers’ formative school. He was the best teacher one could ever have for an early adolescent. This is that story.

  • Second Death Anniversary: Rev. Bro. Ignatius Warnakula

    Today, we remember and honor our former principal, Reverend Brother Ignatius Warnakula, on the second anniversary of his passing.

    Reverend Brother Ignatius was a beloved and shining presence at St. Anne’s College — respected, cherished, and remembered by generations of students, staff, and the wider community. His influence became part of the very soul of our College.

    In a deeply moving and meaningful way, Brother Ignatius spent his final years at St. Anne’s, the place he taught, led, and inspired for over 20 years. It felt only right that the closing chapter of Brother Ignatius’s life was so deeply rooted in the place he loved most, among the halls and hearts he helped shape.

    On this day, with gratitude and reverence, we celebrate Reverend Brother Ignatius’s life and lasting legacy. May Brother Ignatius be eternally blessed in the gentle embrace of God.

  • Tribute to Brother Ignatius: The best teacher for his students, the dream teacher for everyone else

    Reverend Brother Ignatius Warnakula, one of our most beloved former principals, turned 82 on the first day of this month. Throughout his life, he carried out the vision of the Great Saint John Baptist de La Salle which is to give every child a good education and care. He is also the most senior living Reverend Brother in Sri Lanka.

    Brother Ignatius taught for 23 years at St. Anne's College. He has taught not only in our College but also in various other academic institutes. At one point in his extensive academic service, he himself taught all 8 subjects available at the time, which is unthinkable today.
